Dr. Bates will mainly be at the Andalusia and Enterprise offices. Next time you see him, make sure to give him a thumbs up and welcome him to the TW family! Welcome, Dr. William R. Bates!
Q: How would you spend an ideal day off with no financial limits?
A: Fly to the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA to tailgate, camp-out, and watch a Dave Matthews Band concert!
Q: What gets you up in the morning?
A: Knowing that I get to go hang out with Dr. Turner.
Q: Did you have braces growing up? If yes, how old were you and what did you dislike the most?
A: I sure did! In middle school, I had a big underbite! Treatment with my orthodontist is what got me interested in the dental field. Probably what I disliked the most was trying to clean my lunch food out of them while at school… But when I got my braces off, I actually won “Best Smile” in my high school senior yearbook – so overall they were definitely worth it!
Q: What is your favorite hobby and why?
A: I enjoy playing golf, outdoor activities like hiking, and running – but probably my most favorite hobby is traveling to see Dave Matthews Band at different venues across the country with my wife. We’ve even seen them in Canada!
Q: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?
A: Sweet Home Alabama – it’s where family, friends, and hospitality lives. My wife, Kathryn, and I moved up to Michigan for three years for my residency, and we loved our time there, but it sure makes you miss home. We’ve moved back now and look forward to settling in long-term.
Q: Do you have children/pets? If so, what do they do that makes you smile?
A: We have one beautiful dog-hter, Roux! She’s always a happy pup and fetch is her favorite sport – watching her chase that little yellow tennis ball makes me smile!
Q: What is your favorite part of your job and why?
A: Making people smile. A smile is infectious, and everyone deserves to show off some pearly whites. Transformation is an amazing thing, and seeing people excited to smile is such a rewarding experience.
Q: If you had to pick one song to be your life theme song or “walk out song” what would it be?
Q: What is your favorite local restaurant or place to go? What do you like to do/eat?
A: Well I spend most of my time in the Birmingham area, and my immediate recommendation would be the Eugene’s Hot Chicken food truck. It’s hard to beat that hot wing combo with baked beans and deviled eggs!
